Job Description :


Our CLIENT's Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) will be essential in the company’s quest to become a leading entity within the Missouri medical cannabis program.  




The CFO will be accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the Company, which will include the development of an analytically driven financial strategy, analysis and interpretation of metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets. The CFO will also be accountable for reporting accurate financial results, forecasting projections, and will lead the company in sourcing investment in its first few rounds of funding.




The CFO will report directly to the Chief of Staff and Director of Business Operations, and will interact with heads of all verticals within the Company to ensure budgetary compliance throughout the functional org chart. 




CFO will produce monthly reports for ownership and executives, detailing the previous month’s Company-wide performance




Roles and Responsibilities:




  • Leading the financial raise, with subject matter expertise supplemented by Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer, and administrative assistance from the Director of Business Ops. 








  • Be able to speak with authority on the business model and financial model to institutional investors and analysts, leveraging a heavily data-driven approach. Primary contact for investor relations.






  • Represent the Company and future financial performance to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, public officials, and others.  Responsible for providing investor updates.






  • Analyze acquisition targets, joint ventures and strategic investments. Build financial models around each of these relationships and work with legal to craft beneficial contracts.






  • Develop and lead financial strategy, goals and objectives. Build the financial department, systems, software and reporting.








  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management.








  • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution.








  • Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports; Monthly profit and loss forecast by division (vs. budget); and Weekly cash flow forecast.








  • Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas.








  • Assist in selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisers, and others).








  • Complete analysis of financial results; develop recommendations (strategic and tactical); develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., new product lines, new formulations, among others).




  • Manage cash flow, providing short and long-term cash flow planning.








  • Oversee cash, investment, and treasury and asset management.








  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.








  • Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.








  • Build and oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.








  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures, including large approval authority, travel expenses, etc.








  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.








  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.








  • Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.








  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation.








  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.








  • Ensure Standardized Documentation methods are being implemented across all financial systems.








  • Serve as final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues.








  • Develop and manage accounting staff.








  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.








  • Oversee weekly cash management; Approve weekly payables; execute check signing.
